What a whirlwind of the past week it has been. It is always my favorite time of the year, but can also be so hectic with lots of traveling, eating, and socializing with your friends and family. Some of you have probably already taken down your Christmas tree and decorations, which I applaud you there. This girl still has a long way to go with all of that. One thing that I always look forward to immediately after Christmas, if not before is New Years Eve. I love the whole color palette of black, silver, gold and of course my favorite which is sequins! I have been wearing sequins during this holiday for the last couple of years as you saw from this sequined silver dress.  Getting glammed up and putting something on that just sparkles is the essential New Years Eve dress look. When I spotted this floor length gold sequin dress I was in heaven. It reminded me of a more sophisticated version of a dress I wore to my senior year prom actually. Yes, it used to be the more bedazzled and sequins the better when it came to everything! My favorite part about this classic dress is the neckline and the off the shoulder sleeves. This is a dress that screams statement and would be cute enough to wear to a black tie wedding. I was afraid since I haven’t really been working out like I used to (but totally getting back into that now) that I would feel uncomfortable in this, but I felt amazing in it. This is a showstopper dress that would be a classic to bring out for year after year.

Even though I love this holiday, I still do not know quite yet what we are doing. I might go to my friends for a house party or we might go to a friends ranch for the weekend. Completely different plans there but hey that is what makes ringing in the new year so fun and different. Year after year I have always gotten dressed up in sequins and gone to a big event, but would be happy just outdoors rocking some fun party hats. I may have already picked up some new years eve hats and some confetti poppers and a champagne insulated coozie 🙂 I hope you all have a safe and happy new years! As the year is coming to an end I thought I would go through my favorite things that happened to me this past year!

  • Coordinated a big project for work in Philadelphia: I always like to coordinate and plan projects for work and when they asked if I could go to Philadelphia for this equipment move, I was ecstatic. It was great to start the new year with a great leadership opportunity and I have continued to grow in my career all year.
  • Went to New York again for Fashion Week with my BFF: I had gone last year to fashion week for the first time, but this year I got to go with my best friend/roomie who works in the fashion industry. We got to do some touristy things and she even got to come to some shows with me. It was so much fun even though it was freezing!!!
  • Was pretty much a professional bridesmaid: As you know I was a bridesmaid in 3 of my friends weddings in 3 months as I discussed in this bridesmaid post. It was such a fun year getting to celebrate in this amazing event with each of them. Between the bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and weddings I have had so much fun. I already have 3 scheduled to attend at the beginning of 2017 and can’t wait!
  • Always be there for your loved ones: My schedule is always crazy but life does not care and especially when it comes to health with your loved ones. At the beginning of the year my mom had surgery thankfully before anything got worse, and my mom’s sister recently passed away with an illness. It is sometimes just the simplest of tasks by checking up on your loved ones or just calling to see how they are doing makes all of the difference in the world.
  • Was way more organized: Not only with the amount of events I had this year, but work as well was crazy. I was on a lot of different projects and I had to stay organized. I owed it all to my planner and highly recommend everyone to use a planner as well as your phone for your appointments. Having something written down as well as typing it mentally helps you not forget and stay on top of your tasks.
  • Went to Chicago: I had been wanting to go to Chicago for a while and it just so happened that I had a work conference there which worked out perfectly. When I was not in class, I got to explore the city by myself. I highly recommend if you do some business travel that you try to explore a little on your downtime. It is good for you to sometimes just be by yourself in a new city.
  • Grew in my faith: I had never participated in a bible study before and that was one of my goals this year. All throughout my childhood and in high school I was very active in my church and was a leader for retreats and youth group. My room mate and I have been going to the same church since we moved down to our area. We participated in 2 bible studies which happened before Easter and then before Christmas. I looked forward to that 1 night a week each week to enjoy the fellowship and learn more about my faith.
  • Went to a real college football game: I mean real good game! This was the Alabama vs Ole Miss game and it was so much fun. I went to a smaller college so the tailgating was nothing compared to Ole Miss. Think chandeliers, TV’s and girls wearing cocktail dresses and heels!
  • Grew closer to my blogger pals: I got to go to the Blog Societies Conference in Charleston again this year. That is probably one of my favorite cities and the knowledge that I learn at this conference is so great. Not only am I connecting with other bloggers, but learning new strategies to make the best for all of you readers.

Thank you always for reading. I would love to know some of your favorite things about 2016 in the comments below!
