Skin Care

Skin care to me is very important in keeping yourself looking fresh and youthful. You can wear different clothes to accentuate or hide flaws, but your face is what everyone sees and is the most important area to protect. On Friday I went and had a facial at my favorite skin care place Essential Skin Care. Ever since I was 17 I have been coming to Essential Skin Care in Kingwood. The owner Donna and my esthetician Joyce are always very professional and kind hearted. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile and your choice of wine, mimosas, or bottled water. They now even have a fireplace where you can relax before getting your treatment.

I come here for facials and they are the best. I have tried other places but here they understand my skin and take the time to really focus on my needs and wants for skin care. I always get the essential facial which is an hour long with deep cleansing, mask, extractions and not to mention a little massage as well. I recommend getting a facial at least once every 8 weeks depending on your skin concerns and type. Every 6 weeks is when I usually book mine and when my skin is acting up and breaking out I try to come in every 4-5 weeks.

Essential Skin Care carries skin care brands that are corrective and well known, as well as their own line of products that are just as great. I think it is important to follow a skin care regime based on your skin type and any other concerns your skin might be going through. Also, if you are not using any anti-aging products then start using them now. In your 20’s is the perfect time and will be much more beneficial than if you started using them after the wrinkles and age spots already appeared.

My skin care routine is simple, fast, and corrective and just right for me. I don’t want a million products to put on in the morning and night and especially when I am tired. You can get all of these products at Essential Skin Care as well 🙂

1) Cleanser: SkinMedica Facial Cleanser – This is important to make sure you use every morning and night. It not only is the first step to removing all of your makeup but will get rid of all of the dirt and impurities throughout the day. I like to use a wash cloth or a little facial sponge to remove instead of splashing my face with water.

2) Toner: ESC Collection Hydrating Toner – A toner helps rebalance your skin after you wash it with your cleanser. It basically “tones” out your skin and also removes any dirt/makeup that the cleanser did not pick up. I use the toner with cotton balls to wipe my face.

3) Eye Cream: SkinMedica TNS Illuminating Eye Cream – An eye cream is one of the most important anti-aging products that every woman needs to focus on now. No one wants crows feet around their eyes before they even reach 30. A plumping/brightening eye cream can help prevent those from happening. I use 2 pumps and apply with my ring finger to the skin underneath my eyes and on the sides in the morning and night.

4) Moisturizer (everyday): PCA Skin Rebalance – Everyone needs to wear a moisturizer even if your skin is very oily. I love this moisturizer because it helps to balance out my skin if it is dry and provides just the amount of moisture. You can wear this moisturizer both day and night ,which makes it even better.

5) Moisturizer (breakouts) PCA Skin Clearskin – When I am having break outs I use this moisturizer at night to help clear my face. It is not drying like some other topical ointments and still provides hydration.

6) Serum: Skin Medica TNS Essential Serum – This is the holy grail of products. It is a serum that provides your antioxidants and anti-aging all in one. Used twice a day you will start to see a difference. I have SPF in my BB cream and have not splurged on this item quite yet but it is on my radar….hmmm Christmas time 🙂

I think it is important to use great skin care products and make sure to check the ingredients. I would rather splurge on skin care products than makeup because it is the foundation of your face. I already can’t wait for my facial at Essential Skin Care in a couple of weeks. They are the best and the awards year after year prove that 🙂 Call to book an appointment and be treated like a queen!
