Hi everyone, today I am doing a little different type of look for all of my working ladies out there! As you know I work full time at a utility company, and just got moved into project management about a month ago as I shared in this work/life/blog balance post. Since the office takes up about 90% of my day and at the end of the week that is where you ultimately spend most of your time, then having comfortable Spring work attire is essential. I work in the corporate world downtown and there is always that assumption that you have to wear a black/navy business suit all of the time and pumps to work. Well it is 2017 and women just don’t wear that kind of stuff anymore, especially women in their 20’s and 30’s. Fashion can sometimes be hard to find for the work place because a lot of the trends right now involve shorter hem lines on anything from tops to typically more casual fabrics. That is one thing that I get a lot from people is that question of “How do I look cute for work, while still being professional?” I think personally it’s all about the fabric and you have to start with the basic wardrobe essentials of any modern working woman and then go from there.

I think every working woman should have a nice blazer or jacket. Every single week I am bringing out either my black or white blazer and wearing a fun pattern or stripe top with it, or wearing a fun coat like this. It helps pull your entire outfit together and when the Spring temperatures fluctuate, a nice long coat will save you on those days. A classic sheath dress is another must have item for any working woman. I personally like wearing dresses to work, but if you don’t I would also get some ankle cropped pants in a color like cream or a blush for the Spring. This sheath dress I have worn a lot at the office and actually wore this look on Tuesday. I get so many compliments on this dress because of the fun color, but the classic shape brings it back into the working conservative nature as well. My favorite part about being unique and especially now for Spring with my work wardrobe is mixing it up with accessories and shoes. In the winter I would wear booties almost every day to work, but now with the temperature changes I have caught on to the mule trend and love everything about it. This is the “it” shoe of the moment and I am so glad because not only is it the most comfortable shoe ever, it is so work and weekend appropriate. We all know I like an item that is multi functional. These mules are great quality and go with everything, and I already want to get them in a blush color as well. Depending on the day, I typically carry a fun tote bag too in either a blush or tan which is great for Spring. Wearing cute work attire to the office does not have to be a boring or daunting task, just have fun with it because in the end you are there most of your day after all 🙂
