It is that time of year where it finally is starting to feel cool out and the leaves are turning and it is just gorgeous outside. I love doing all things fall and if you saw my monthly newsletter that went out this week you know that I love doing all things cheesy and holiday like too, especially with my boyfriend and friends. This time of year can be really busy as it is the last stretch before full blown Christmas and all of the holiday craziness that begins. It is a little calm before the storm, which is the perfect time to do all of your fall date ideas that you have been wanting to do. During this time of year it is all about football, lounging around, and hunting at least for my boyfriend, so getting out and doing things during this time of year whenever we can is essential. Don’t get me wrong lounging around and watching football and drinking beer is something that I really love to do, but I also am such a huge fan of activities, so those are a must! In the fall you want dates to be easy, not too much money (as you are about to spend a lot at Christmas), and most of all fun for the two of you. This outfit is one that I tend to throw on and wear for dates because it is so comfy with the little sweater, but the booties dress it up. One thing on date nights that I always try to have on hand is a great big bag that I can throw my essentials into. I loved this bag from Charming Charlie because not only is it roomy but it has a strap that I can throw over my shoulder and go. Keeping an outfit easy, comfortable, and fashionable is key for going on all of these fun fall dates below.

  • Go to a local brewery-Breweries are always a fun option and who doesn’t love a great pumpkin beer. There are so many micro breweries that have blowing up around my area so finding one is so easy!
  • Pick out a pumpkin together-Even if it just for the picture opportunity I am always down for this little easy date idea. Pumpkin patches are everywhere and it would be a fun activity to do before you carve it.
  • Bake something with apples, cinnamon or pumpkin-I baked an apple pie bread pudding on Sunday night which I shared on the newsletter and this was so good and easy. I am pretty good when it comes to desserts. Who doesn’t love fall sweets anyway!!
  • Attend a football game-I mentioned that we watch football all of the time but going to a football game is seriously so much fun. This could be your local high school team in your town, college, or NFL game. I enjoy tailgating so personally I like a college or NFL game the best. There is something about everyone in game day gear and all of the yummy appetizers and festivity that I love.
  • Go on a hike-The weather is so nice during this time of year and with the leaves changing colors there is no place I would rather be than enjoying it and talking to each other while walking in nature. Go explore areas you haven’t been to before and you might just discover your new favorite park or trail.
  • Enjoy S’Mores-This is the essential cool weather food activity that I personally love. If you have the chance to be by a campfire and roast them then even better. There is a little wine bar called 13 Celsius in Houston that has them on their menu if you don’t want to cook them either.
  • Cuddle under the stars-Talk about romantic! If you have a truck you can go out into the middle of nowhere once the weather is nice and just lay down with some hot cider. Several places around Houston now offer outdoor movies where you can bring a blanket and watch one in a fun area. I did this at Market Square Park last month and it was so much fun! Can’t wait to go see one at Tiny Boxwoods too 😉
  • Attend a winery-Red wine during this time of year is my favorite. There are now so many great little wineries that are popping up and a lot of them will give you a free tasting or at least for only a couple of dollars. This is a great way to be adventurous and try different varietals that the both of you can enjoy.
  • Have a game night-This is so much fun to do when you just want to stay in together and have a little fun friendly competition. We typically play Heads Up or Trivia Crack just on our phones, but bringing out the board games would be even better.
  • Go to a corn maze/apple orchard-I have been wanting to do this for a while and it is definitely on my fall bucket list. Being in nature and having fun while you get lost in a corn maze or pick apples to bake something delicious is such a fun little weekend activity. You can bring out your inner child by being amazed by all of the fun activities that these places have. Make sure to google areas like this in your area.
  • Road trip and look at nature-A little road trip whether it is 2 hours outside of town or a full weekend would make for a great fall date/weekend idea. Seeing the leaves changing colors and the pretty foliage would be a great sight to see.
  • Watch a scary movie-Even though Halloween is over, scary movies do not get old. I used to love these and they scared me to death. As I have gotten older they aren’t as scary. I would much rather watch a chick flick any day of the week, but hey it’s compromise right! Plus when you get scared it makes the perfect time for cuddling.
  • Volunteer together-Giving back during this time of year is essential as the holidays are coming up. What better date idea than being together while at the same time helping others in need. You could volunteer to help decorate for the upcoming holidays, deliver meals to those in need, or just be with those that might not ever have any company.
  • Go to a fall festival-This one will make you act like a kid again and you might be the only ones there without kids, but hey that makes it fun right!! Between getting your faces painted, playing games, and of course eating cotton candy, festivals are everywhere during this time of year and are so much fun.
  • Get hooked into a new TV show/read same book-When the weather gets cooler it is nice to sometimes just stay in all weekend and binge watch a new show for the both of you or binge read a new book together. This is more of a quiet date but then after you can discuss and it is so fun each night looking forward to what is going to happen next in the TV show or book.

Hope you try some of these inexpensive fall date ideas or at least they will get you inspired to come up with some of your own. I think having a date night at least once a week is essential. It doesn’t have to cost money and can be as extravagant or silly as you want it to be. Do you have any other date ideas you like to enjoy during this time of year?
