Valentines Day Date Ideas

As most of you know it is almost that time of year…..Valentines Day! Some of us hate it and do not want to be anywhere near a restaurant at this time and think it is all just annoying. Others love this holiday and embrace it to the fullest with chocolate, elaborate gifts and going out for a date night. I am somewhere in the middle on this holiday. I have nothing against Valentines Day and I am not one who will wear all black because I hate the holiday. I personally like to get dressed up and even though I have not met Mr. Right yet, I still celebrate with my girlfriends. Last year I was in New York for fashion week and Lauren from Sunday Beach Blog and I went to dinner and saw Chicago in Broadway which was so much fun! This year my roomie BFF and I are going to be in New York during Valentines Day weekend. I will be going to fashion week stuff early in the weekend and then we will probably go see a show and then go explore the magnificent city. There are so many fun date ideas to do for this day with your girlfriends, your hubby or even your mom to make it fun! Here are some of my favorite Valentines Day date ideas below.

  • Go see a play/show: This one you will for sure have to plan in advance and make sure you buy tickets early for. Like I said Broadway plays on Valentines Day though are so fun and just make me think of Romeo and Juliet, the original 2 love birds. Going with your man or your girlfriends make for a great classic date.
  • Do something competitive: Anything that has a little challenge is always good on a date. You can play some putt putt golf, go bowling, even play Mario Kart. This is something that brings out a little competition and hey the winner can even buy the other chocolate.
  • Share your love by volunteering: There are so many great organizations that always need help, and sharing your love for others during the weekend of love is just amazing. Not only will you feel great after helping others out, but it would be a unique date that you could connect on a more emotional level too.
  •  Try a new restaurant: If you dare to venture out to eat on Valentines Day then I applaud you, because I totally would too. I mean isn’t the original date idea a dinner anyway. Instead of going to your favorite place, why don’t you venture out and try a new place that you have been dying to try. It could be a hole in the wall restaurant and you could still get dressed up, it would be an adventure!
  • Be a tourist in your city: Go visit the places in your city that you have always wanted to see, but have not had the time to go to. You can rent bikes or just walk around together and just explore like it is your first time visiting.
  • Take a cooking class/cook together: I have always wanted to do this and eventually will. They offer classes at Sur La Table and other smaller places for a set price and you get taught how to cook a whole meal and they provide all of the ingredients. This is a great time to bond and who doesn’t love a good meal as well. I could really use this class, and think it would be a fun Valentines Day date idea with my mom too! If you don’t want to go to a cooking class then whipping up a fun meal together at home is a great alternative.
  • Have a party with your favorite things: This is a fun little date idea with your favorite gal pals. Your friends would have another friend picked out and they would then buy some of their favorite things. When everyone is together you each get a present filled with your favorite things. To make it even better you can have your favorite cocktails and just girl time.
  • Binge watch the romantic classics: Chick flicks are my favorite type of movie. Having a date night watching all of the great classics like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Titanic, 27 Dresses, and Pretty Woman sounds like the perfect romantic night to me. This is a great alternative to just staying in with your girlfriends, or if you can get your boy to watch too then he’s a real keeper!
