I don’t know about you but lately when I walk into my closet I am trying to pick more classic pieces as I can for the week. Since I have been going back to the office one day a week since March and more days very soon, I need classic pieces where I don’t have to think so much in the morning. Classic velvet is one of those materials that can work all year long. Most people think that velvet can only be worn in the Winter because of the thick material. I love rocking it with boots and some sweaters like I did here, but it can also be great for the warmer months as well. This is what I love about mixing clothes items together.

I typically get cold inside so having my trusty denim jacket is always a necessity for me. I like to throw on a denim jacket on different pieces to make it a little more laid back and casual, even when it is a classic velvet piece like this. Even though it has gotten a lot more warm outside, I still am rocking my booties. This weather is always unpredictable here in Houston and you never know what it will feel like when we go outside. It is always great to have layering pieces on hand like this jacket when you can. There is something about a little edge that I love that they give. My favorite thing about this look is that this dress is short sleeved and could be worn with wedges as well for a fun Summer date night look. Speaking of date night, I love all of the things and this past weekend James and I rode all the rides at Kemah. That is something that is a classic that I love that was so much fun!
