Last Minute Fathers Day Ideas

Speakers | Polaroid Printer | Turn Table | Engraved Glass | T-Shirt | Cigar Case | Phone Case | Accessories Case

If you are anything like me then you probably wait until the last minute to get a gift. Whether this is a wedding, birthday, or in this case a Father’s Day gift you are just too busy sometimes and the day literally creeps up. Lately, of course I have had a million things to do and am currently in Chicago and still haven’t gotten a Father’s Day gift. It is not that I am a bad daughter, but honestly sometimes getting presents on these Hallmark holidays can be anything but easy. Of course I could get him the typical new polo shirt or a gift card to get some new tools which I know he will love, but getting something he wouldn’t buy himself is sometimes half of the fun. A gag gift can sometimes be a fun added touch. No, I am not talking about something that he will never use but a little something thrown in there that will give him a chuckle. I am always a sucker for a great card too. My dad is typically not the sappy one but that’s when I feel like my true feelings come out is in a great Hallmark card. These all are gifts for any type of dad and that you can get pretty quickly.

For me spending the day with him is what it is all about personally. From when I was little when he would come home from work he would immediately play with me whether it was throwing me up in the air, letting me ride on his back or just talk a hundred miles a minute to him. Then as I have gotten older my dad and I have always had a great bond where we can talk openly with each other and he will always give me his honest opinion. My dad is one that always has to know of the latest juicy gossip, watches the Bachelorette and all of my other reality shows on a religious basis, and will tell me when I need a spray tan haha! When I go out to my parents house I still love it and my dad literally brings me a glass of wine first before my mom. I feel like I am his little princess and for once he needs to be waited on hand and foot. I will be flying back to Chicago late on Saturday and heading straight to my brothers to meet my parents for a Fathers Day weekend. We will be grilling out, going in the pool, having some beers and most likely just laughing and enjoying each others company. I have put a few ideas below for a fun weekend. I hope everyone has a great time with their fatherly figure in their life 🙂

  • Go to a sporting event: This is for sure for all of the die hard sports fans out there. You never know how passionate your dad can be about something until his team is losing. My dad still yells at the TV all of the time. A baseball game is a great game to go to and eat peanuts and just have you and dad time.
  • Grill out: Most likely your dad has spent some time around the grill since you have been growing up. What better way to really bond then have him show you a few things on the grill. Hey, he can even bust out all of his fun spatulas and spices that I bet you have given him for at least one occasion. If your food doesn’t turn out as well as what your dad’s has always tasted like, well then just leave the grilling thing to pops.
  • Pool/lake Time: Since Father’s Day occurs in June you are going to want to be in some type of  water most likely. Whether this is being in the pool or if you go to a lake or beach that is even better. Summer days always have involved water for me. I have always grown up around boats and/or jet skis so every weekend in the summer I would look forward to this with my dad.
  • Complete a challenge: At my parents and brothers house we have foosball tables and that is the game where we all get competitive and get on teams and try to beat everyone. Unfortunately I am really bad at this and no one wants to be on my team, but regardless we have fun. A little challenge with your dad whether it is a game of monopoly or shooting targets at the range is always a fun idea.
  • It is all about him: Remember it is his day after all and he gets to pick what he wants to do even if that involves something you don’t want to do. We go to this Mexican restaurant where they have karaoke and my dad loves to listen to me sing. Sometimes I don’t feel like doing it or feel embarrassed, but do it anyway because it puts a smile on his face. Doing something you might not like as much but dad does is just a little sacrifice that you can make on this day all about him.

Okay, that phone case looks like something my hubby would LOVE! I may get it for him as a late Father’s Day gift — would be totally useful for our upcoming Europe trip! Also, love the throwback pic of you and your dad!
