This past weekend as you know I went on a little trip to San Antonio to host the World of Macy’s Vera Bradley event. When I got asked to host it in San Antonio I was so excited because I hadn’t been there in a while and it is such a fun city with plenty to offer. I have been going there ever since I was a kid to either Fiesta Texas, to see the Alamo, or just to walk down the Riverwalk. As I have gotten older I have started to care a lot about where I stay when I travel, and what amenities and proximity it is to what I am going to be doing. There is just something so cute about a boutique hotel and when it is on the Riverwalk that makes it even better. We stayed at Hotel Valencia on Saturday  night and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. First of all it is located right on the Riverwalk, and second of all it is gorgeous. It reminds me of a Spanish villa with a modern touch. I am all about hospitality being that was my major in college and they did not disappoint. We felt like a king and queen when we got there and everyone was so helpful and even gave us complimentary sangria when we checked in.

When I go to a hotel I love when the rooms are the complete opposite of size wise of a NYC hotel room. This one answered my prayers because the room was huge. When I opened the doors it was a long hallway which led straight to the mini bar fridge and then into our room. I loved how everything was updated, but it still gave you that little Spanish flair. A hotel’s big white plush bedding is always my favorite and I love how Hotel Valencia went all out with the sheets even having their name on them. It is all about the little extra added touches that make a hotel so memorable. My favorite part had to be the classical music that was playing on the radio when we walked in. I seriously loved this and it made me feel like I was thousands of miles away from Houston. When we opened our shutters on our window a beautiful courtyard was below us that looked like the perfect oasis, and a wedding was even going on during that time too. I mean who could blame them it is gorgeous!

Before we explored the Riverwalk for dinner we had to stop by the V Bar at the hotel for some great cocktails. This was my kind of place as it reminded me of a sleek bar scene with velvet chairs and beaded curtains separating the lounge and bar area. We had to stay in this area for a while as we sampled some wine and cocktails. My favorite was the moscow mule which is always such a great fall/winter drink. I had to go outside and see the view over the balcony and enjoy my drink outside during the great weather. There was plenty of seating outside and you got to have a completely different vibe outside as well. I can’t say enough great things about my stay here at Hotel Valencia. It was a great location, intimate, and had an updated vibe with great service. See below for the restaurants we also tried while in San Antonio.

  • Boudro’s : Seafood/American/Mexican-This restaurant that we ate at for dinner on Saturday night had a mix of everything. Their table side guacamole was probably some of the best I have had and I am extremely partial to Chipotle’s ! We got the seafood platter and split it and had some awesome prickly pear margaritas. It is right on the Rivewalk and probably one of the best restaurants there.
  • Blanco Cafe: Mexican-A whole in the wall place is always the best right?? This little Mexican place is one we ate at for lunch on our way back to Houston. A couple of my coworkers told me about this place who used to live in San Antonio. They said don’t mind the decor aka not too instagram worthy, except the wall outside is (see below), but the food is great! It is fast, really good (best cheese enchiladas), and cheap! We were starving when we got there and ordered so much and it was only $22!!
