I hope you all are staying safe and enjoying this time spent by yourself or your family at home. I know that I have been able to spend some time getting to things that I have been putting off for a while. This includes cleaning some items, organizing, reading some new books and overall simplifying. During the last month it has been a time for the whole world to come together and all have the same thing in common. Whether you have been wearing loungewear or actually getting dressed up in the morning like always, it is nice for us to all have social media still to connect us. During this time celebrations are very different in how they were celebrated prior to quarantine. I have had several friends and families birthdays during this time frame as well as my parent’s anniversary. We still want to be able to celebrate life’s special occasions like birthdays during quarantine. I have listed out some of my personal favorite ways to celebrate special occasions during quarantine.

Ways to Celebrate Special Occasions During Quarantine

  • Have Cookies Delivered: This is one of the simplest and personally one of my go to’s over the past couple of years. I have sent cookies from Tiff’s Treats typically on friend’s birthdays, as a congrats, or for a just because. When they show up on your doorstep hot with some fresh milk is the best. I had cookies delivered for my parent’s anniversary last week and they loved it.
  • Do a Drive By Birthday Parade: I have seen this done a lot where cars are lining up in the neighborhood or streets and doing a drive by birthday parade. This is so cute for not only little kids, but also adults as well. I know that I would be so thrilled if this happened to me. It is seriously like your own private parade.
  • Decorate Your Yard or House: When I have been going on daily walks through the neighborhood I have been seeing pretty pictures in windows of rainbows and also chalk messages on the sidewalks. Use these to say Happy Birthday to your loved ones. I also notice that the yard signs are more important than anything right now.
  • Get on Zoom and Dress Up: Have fun and get your friends and family to celebrate your loved ones as if you were together. My mom’s friends all sang her Happy Birthday last night on their Zoom call. This makes it seem like everyone is together. It also gives you an excuse to get out of your loungewear.
  • Have Balloons Delivered: There are so many great talented people locally and someone that can make personalized balloons are even better.
  • Go On a Virtual Trip: If you are like me and love to travel during your birthday and you might have already had something planned during this time for your special day, then take a virtual trip. There are places all over the world that have been offering live webcams. Whether this is your favorite national park, Hawaii or even D.C. to see the cherry blossoms. Wherever you would like to see you can search for live broadcast for that destination.
  • Have a Virtual Dinner Party: You can send your loved one or order for yourself take out from your favorite restaurant. Restaurants really need you to support during these times anyway. This would be fun to set it up like a virtual dinner party and bring out your nice serving pieces. Then you all just have fun celebrating together.
  • Host a Party on Your Balcony or Yard: If you live in an apartment complex then you can decorate your balcony and have balloons and celebrate with neighbors. If you live in a house you can also celebrate in the yard with some chairs and what not with you neighbors across the street. This would be fun to do just to see people, even if you might be yelling to one another.
  • Send a Good Ol Fashioned Card and Maybe a Bottle of Wine: Now sending a card just like your grandma used to is now better than ever. I know that some of my friends have even been doing PenPal which brings me back to a great time. You can also have wine delivered to them too which would be even better. One of my favorite wine delivery companies Winc is offering 4 bottles of wine for less than $40 delivered by clicking here.

Hope you all are staying safe, and don’t forget to think about your loved ones and making their day special, even it you can’t be with them. I hope you like these suggestions and feel free to add any of your own below as well.
