If you are anything like me lately then you are busy during this time of year. It seems like everything has been go go go since probably around May. The summers are supposed to be nice and relaxing and especially less traffic on the roads since kids are out of school. If you work full time like myself then you know this is not the case. I have been able to take a few days off from the hustle and bustle like I did when I went to Fredericksburg recently and Savannah. That was a nice escape, but a lot of the times during this time of year I just want to have a nice cold beverage after a long day of work. Especially living in Houston you know that this is crucial during this time of year when the average daily temperatures are in the high 90’s. As you have seen in numerous of my work posts I have done, I think having solid relationships with people you work with is a huge must when it comes to being successful. A lot of the times I think you really get to know more about your colleagues outside of the work environment whether that is going to lunch or my personal favorite which is happy hour over some drinks.

A couple of my coworkers and I have started going to happy hour on Friday afternoons when we can make it to be social and just catch up with one another. I look forward to this time and one way to make it easier is if I am wearing an outfit that transitions well from summer to happy hour while also staying cool. A lot of the times on Fridays or when I am going straight from work to a happy hour, I like to wear nice easy slacks and some flats or a comfortable dress. When I spotted this green floral dress I knew it would go with so many different options. I have worn this dress a lot to work recently because the material is not thick and the color and print are so fun for the Summer months. It is also not too busy of a dress to wear in a more conservative environment. Sometimes if I wear too bright of colors or prints, it is not as appropriate as something in this shade of green would be for the office environment. The best part about this dress is that it has a little open slit in the back. This is perfect if you go grab drinks and need a little fresh air on your back. Of course at work I always pair it with a blazer or a long vest. If you change your flats to some strappy heels like this then you have the best work to happy hour look with very minimal effort. I think by having a solid base of a transitional dress and then adding accessories you can do so much to make it work for any occasion.
