It is that time of year where it is extremely hot outside, yet we all want to be outside because it is summer of course! One of the best things about summer is doing activities outside and enjoying the sun all day long. I prefer to be on a lake somewhere with a nice cold beverage in my hand. Another fun past time is going to a summer music festival. I have only been to Free Press here in Houston 2 years in a row and it was so much fun. When you go with your friends and all are jamming to music and not really caring what time of day it is or anything, you get a feeling of freedom. I had never been to a music festival before Free Press, but had known a lot of people that had been to Coachella. Since Lollapalooza is coming up as well there are so many summer music festival outfits to pick from. I always love to dress up and a theme is an even better excuse. When I was in college I used to love theme parties and I feel like summer music festivals are no different. Between the flower crowns and the flowy shirts it brings out everyone’s inner hippie. Anytime there is a fun head accessory, I am in. As you have seen from several posts like here and here is that I love to wear hats even when it is 100 degrees out.

I think the best summer music festival outfit involves adding a little flare and being comfortable yet cute. Denim shorts are the essential item for summer. You could go with a flowy dress or skirt like this, or be more comfortable in some distressed shorts. I also have been loving the lace up shirt trend for a while now and even though this one is black, the material is so breezy that it works. If you are feeling a little trendy I think that chunky heels like this are fun, but could be a little unpractical if you are walking around a lot. On that note I would recommend wearing some embellished flat sandals similar to what I wore in this post. The best thing about a summer music festival outfit is having fun and being cool and comfortable.
