I can’t believe I am celebrating 4 years of blogging! Where has the time gone? It seems like just the other day I was googling and trying to figure out how to set up my website and what platform I needed to be on and all of the other other administrative items that can sometimes be the most tedious. Then 4 years later here I am! I have been enjoying every minute of blogging from writing content that comes from my heart, to sharing my personal style that I love to mix and match with. I was doing the new questions feature on Instagram yesterday and a lot of the questions were around blogging in general, and if it is hard to blog when I have a full time and what do I get out of blogging. There is so much I have personally learned and time management is for sure one of them. If I could dedicate more time to my blog I would, but right now with my full time job that I love as well I can only do a full blog post about twice a week. On social media I still try to post once a day though. My favorite part about this whole journey has been being able to connect with you all and being that person you come to for advice from where you should go to in a new city to what new top to wear that will take you from work to happy hour. Below I am sharing some facts about blogging that you might not know.

Blogging Fun Facts

  • I Am Not Just a Model: I was a model at one point in high school, but not any more. So many people think that fashion bloggers are models and we are just modeling the clothes. This is way different and I am going to actually talk about what I am wearing, how to style it, and a little about what is going on during that part of my day too. When I take pictures this can sometimes be awkward but you get over it quick since people are normally staring.
  • I Don’t Take Outfit Photos Every Single Day: This has been asked so many times. People always ask if I go and take photos of my outfit every single day that I feature on the blog or social media. No I do not, and that would take so much time. Instead like most other bloggers, when I shoot photos I bring 5 different outfits and change and can shoot about 10 good pictures per outfit. I then spread these out for my blog posts that month. If I am going to dinner or can get one of my friends or parents to quickly snap a photo for my Instagram I will do that. If it is a camera picture chances are it was from a shoot prior.
  • It Takes Hours for a Single Blog Post: A lot of people do not realize the time and effort it takes to create a single blog post. They think it takes about 10 minutes or so, and that could not be further from the truth. I normally shoot outfits for an hour and then once my photographer edits them or I edit them if my mom is taking them, then it comes to the actual post. I have certain criteria in my posts that I follow and I try to be authentic and real with you all. Then you have to link everything, make sure everything is good to go before publishing and then publishing to all of your social media channels as well. The whole process takes a couple of hours. A lot of people do not realize this time frame and think it is a lot easier than it looks. I do love every single minute of it though!
  • We Can Get Paid Through Sponsorships and Affiliate Programs: Just like everyone else in this world, bloggers do not work for free, even though at first there are a lot of free opportunities that will come your way. Just like I have mentioned in my policies I work with several brands that might pay me for certain blog posts and then I am a part of RewardStyle most common to you all as LIKEtoKNOW.it This affiliate platform makes it so much easier to find out exactly what I am wearing by following me through their app and clicking on my outfit picture which shows in detail everything I am wearing. Whenever I get approached for a sponsorship I am picky when it comes to which ones I partner with because I want to be as genuine as possible and not participate in something just because I will get paid for it.
  • You Have to Be Unique….There Are So Many Bloggers: 4 years ago when I started blogging there was not that many bloggers, and now everyone it seems like has a blog or wants a blog. This is great and I love how this industry is becoming more well known, but it makes it that much harder to really stand out. If you are scrolling through Instagram and not looking at anyone’s account you should be able to distinguish between your favorite bloggers. If everyone is wearing the same thing the same way then how unique are you really?! This is so important to me and something that I constantly am trying to work on. You want to share your own content, but be mindful of what your readers want to see of course as well.
  • Give Credit Where Credit Is Due: Brands and everyone else is finally jumping on the bandwagon and understanding the worth of bloggers now. They are understanding what all goes into a post and social media and that it is not going to be “free advertising” for them anymore. It has to be a mutually beneficial collaboration in order to work with a brand. If the blogger is getting a free top for instance and is spending hours promoting it, does it really prove to be a great partnership? Also, copyright and giving credit on photos is extremely important and is a legal offense if not done properly. That would be like copying someone’s words when writing an essay, and we all know how dangerous that is as well.

These fun facts all prove why I love to blog and share my world with you all and open up on a daily basis. I am so glad that I am doing this and would not want to be doing anything else. Yes, it can be extremely busy at times especially with the 1000 things that I always feel like I have going on, but I love every minute of it. This is my creative outlet that actually calms me down when I am feeling stressed out. I am so glad for each and every one of you for supporting me along the way and continue to follow me and read my posts. It is all because of you on why BNB styling exists 🙂
