Today is the first day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that is open to everyone. Over the past couple of weeks there have been several dates where different levels of card holders have had early access. This is a yearly event that always generates a lot of buzz around some of their products and the great discount that is involved. I am not one that shops at Nordstrom every month, but I for sure shop the sale for my favorite basic items and those items that I know are going to last.

Throughout the year I do look forward to this sale and buying items that are part of my favorite categories. During sales you can’t go overboard though, and you have to be careful on what you buy. Items that are trendy or that you don’t need can add up extremely fast, and then you will be overspending instead of getting a good deal. I have some tips that I previously follow during this sale. One of those is for sure to buy from the categories that make the most sense. Below are the top 5 categories that I think are the best buys during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021.

Boots

This is one category that during the end of July here in Houston at least, that we are anxiously awaiting some cooler weather and to shop. Boots are an investment piece and something that you are going to wear year over year. I always like to get at least 1 new pair of boots in the Nordstrom sale whether it is for knee high suede boots, leather booties or some cowboy boots. You can’t go wrong with the array of boot options in this sale.

Undergarments

A lot of people don’t talk about undergarments during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This is one of those categories that is so important, but one that we don’t tend to invest a lot of time or money in. If you can’t remember the last time you have replaced one of your undergarments, then it is time to restock on all of your essentials. We all know that socks mysteriously lose their mate after the wash, and we all could use a new bra after being at home this past year. This is the perfect opportunity to get a great discount on these pieces.

Winter Wear

Depending on where you live, some people invest in more Winter wear than others. Even though we don’t get very much cool weather here in Houston, I always like to have classic Winter wear components. During the sale I like to invest in basic sweaters and perhaps a new coat. Winter wear during the sale is one of those items that everyone flocks to because of the heavy discounts. These are pieces that can last year after year and are always timeless.

Beauty

One of the categories that doesn’t get as much attention as clothes, shoes or accessories is the great selection of beauty products that are included in the sale. Beauty is not one of those categories that I typically buy that often because it typically takes a while for me to run out of something. I do know that when I personally run out of a beauty product it seems like I run out of everything, and then it is a very large dollar amount. This is when stocking up on my favorite Oribe texturizing spray or my favorite bronzer are great pieces during this sale. Whether you need a new curling iron or a new lipstick, this sale is for you. My favorite part of the beauty picks are the great sets that they always put together. I bought the YSL lipstick set last year during the sale and love that it came in a cute YSL box that serves as dec or as well.

Home

There are always great home finds as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. One of the best pieces that I personally love are the towels, blankets and candles selection. Who hasn’t wanted to re-decorate their place over this past year? Between decorative mirrors, bookshelf trinkets, and cozy blankets, the sale has everything. This is one of those fun categories that also helps your overall surroundings just feel more happy 🙂
