Galentine’s Champagne & Desserts Party

I love to host something for my girlfriends in celebration of Galentine’s Day during the month of February. This has been a tradition for the last couple of years and as they always said on Sex and the City, “Your girlfriends are your soulmates.” I have hosted things from a brunch which was one of my favorites, to a relaxing night in with pizza. I think it is fun if you are single or have a significant other, to be around your girlfriends and do something in the month of love. I know I know, it doesn’t have to be in February to share that you care with your girlfriends, but having a theme and another event is just even better. This event that I hosted last Saturday included a brunch at Savoir in the Heights which was super yummy. The service was amazing, and the waffles and French toast were even better. Then the girls came back over to my place for some champagne, desserts, and a fun game. No one ever wants to be the only one that orders dessert at brunch anyway. If there are about 6 different kinds of dessert in an informal setting you know your girlfriends will enjoy them. This was so much fun, and I hope you are able to use some of these tips for your next Gal’s Day!

Decor

When there are parties with your girlfriends for a holiday like this, I always think it is fun to go with the typical party decor. That means lots of fun balloons scattered everywhere, and then of course some cute signs. If you remember my rose party then you know that fun signs and little touches were on the agenda. I knew I wanted to have a lot of balloons by my bar cart and all throughout the place as well. I was able to get a big set of balloons online here, which I didn’t even end up using half of. This was a great deal because all I had to do was get them blown up. These were a mix between heart balloons, kiss balloons, and a cute love sign that was a hit. I also couldn’t forget about some flowers. Anytime there is a party or friends coming over I love to get some fresh flowers. I just picked up some roses and eucalyptus and put them in my vases, which added a little more to the decor. My favorite thing to do is always making the table behind the couch the center piece for desserts and adding a little to it. All I did was cover it with this ombre table runner and added a little felt garland in front. Everything else for decor was minimal and used items I already had for a little more pink added in.

Food

We had gone to brunch at 11:30 where we really ate and had some mimosas, which I wanted this to be all about desserts and champagne. If you aren’t having just appetizers, I think desserts is the next easiest thing for party food. Unless you want to bake your own, there are far more better options at the store and local bakeries that will satisfy all of your guest’s sweet cravings. I decided to have a mix of all of the sweets with cake, cookies, cupcakes, macaroons, donuts and some candy. Desserts also always look so pretty which I was excited I was able to use some of my cake stands that I always have on display. The red velvet cheesecake from HEB was a huge hit as well as these cookies from Target. I decided to also have gummy bears in little packets around the dessert table, because who doesn’t love these little treats. I used some of my coffee table books in a pink color to add some height for this set up, and also some heart shaped dishes that were too hard to not pass up. An easy tip that I try to always do is to use paper plates, napkins and plastic forks. This makes it even better for clean up time, and there are so many great plastic and paper goods that look very nice.

Drinks

Since we started around 1:30-2:00, our drinks of choice were champagne or coffee. Most of my friends enjoyed some bubbly, and some had this grapefruit bubbly sparkling water that was pink of course. I always like to make the drinks stand out with a little fun straw. In order to save time on not having to wash dishes, I got these plastic gold speckled champagne flutes. Then I had these cute straws added with these little fun “no boys allowed” and “galentines” icons. I had each of the flutes on these doilies that are so typical for Valentine’s Day! One great thing that was convenient was having Winc deliver the champagne. You can have 4 bottles for under $40 with free shipping by clicking here which is such a good steal. We also had coffee served in some fun Valentine’s themed to-go cups with some Trader Joe’s cookies too.

Goodie Bags/Games

A party is not complete with some type of games and goodie bags. I saw this game online and it was so much fun to play after we were on a sugar high with all of our desserts and champagne. It has a mix of truth or dares, never have I ever, and other fun questions. We had so many fun laughs out of this game, I can’t wait to play it again at another get together. One thing that I always like to do when I host something is make sure my guests have something to take home with them. I ordered these boxes and put in some candy, a bath bomb, heart sunglasses and a note on why I love them. These were such a hit and really put a smile on my friends’ faces. A simple little idea like this goes a long way and makes it even better.

Next time you are thinking of what type of party to host, make sure to honor your favorite girls in your life. It doesn’t have to be necessarily in February, but it is a good idea since you can do Valentine’s. It is always such a fun time and you and your gals will start looking forward to it every year!
