Happy 2019 everyone! I can’t believe it is already a new year, where did 2018 go? All I know is that it was fast and furious and I think 2019 is going to be 10 times even more fast and high speed. I always like to start a new year and get into that new year hustle where you are planning out your year and putting goals to paper and reflecting what worked and what didn’t over the past year. One of the things for me that worked was that I was more organized in 2018 than what I have previously been, and was able to put various tasks and reminders down for things that I wanted to make sure that I didn’t forget. This was extremely helpful as I planned out my weeks, and also made me feel a little ahead of my plans. If something came up which we all know that it does, it wouldn’t catch me that far off from my normal routine.

What didn’t work for me was saying “yes” to too many things during the week. It is already hard enough when you work full time but going to dinners, blogging events, out just because, etc. can get a little crazy during the week. It is nice to decompress and have “me time” even if that means sitting around and doing nothing. I feel like the new year is full of hustle and bustle as we get back into a routine and off of the holiday schedule and parties. At least for me this for sure means getting back to a little more healthier eating habits and trying to go to the gym more. It is also a time for us to go through our closets and figure out what we can get rid of to simplify our new year. One of the items that always stays around after every major closet clean is this trench coat. I have worn it year after year and feel like it is the perfect item to wear not only this time of year while running around, but during every season. It is a staple piece like this that doesn’t make me have to think twice when I am bouncing to appointment to appointment in the new year. Do you all have a staple piece that you rely on when you are on your way out the door?
